First Impressions: Coyote by John Calvin Abney

This episode looks at the 2018 full-length album Coyote by John Calvin Abney. Acclaimed by a number of publications, the album also marks Abney’s first appearance in Rolling Stone as a country artist to watch. It’s certainly a crowdpleaser, but it lacks some of the exciting ambiguity of his prior release, Far Cries and Close Calls. Nevertheless, it’s another strong entry in an impressive and tireless catalogue of one of Oklahoma’s best. Does it make Oklahoma weirder, though? Watch the full YouTube review below.
